Language Development (.2 CEU/2 Hours)
    Description: This course discusses components of language development in infants, toddlers, and preschoolers,
    including listening, oral language, and written language. It provides language milestones for each age group, and actions
    and activities that encourage language development and promote early literacy. This course also discusses early literacy
    in relation to language development.
    Objectives: RECALL the three basic steps of listening. IDENTIFY basic listening milestones for infants, toddlers, and
    preschoolers. RECALL actions and activities that encourage and promote listening in a child care environment. RECALL
    components of oral language. IDENTIFY basic oral language milestones for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. RECALL
    aspects and components of nonverbal communication. RECALL actions and activities that encourage and promote oral
    language in a child care environment. RECALL components of written language, including reading and writing. RECALL
    aspects and components of a print-rich environment.

    birth until 18 months of age.

    developmental delays, and provides general guidelines for communicating with families regarding developmental delays.
    NOTE: This course focuses on children who are 4-5 years old.
