    Description: This course discusses guidelines for transporting students with special needs, including creating an
    evacuation plan and conducting evacuation drills. It also presents procedures for handling medical emergencies
    Objectives: RECALL general guidelines for handling emergencies when transporting students with special needs.
    RECALL medical emergencies that require immediate medical attention. RECALL first aid procedures used to treat
    medical emergencies. RECALL elements of an emergency evacuation plan. IDENTIFY three strategies for evacuating a
    bus. RECALL lifting techniques used to evacuate nonambulatory students.

Transporting Students with Special Needs: Loading and Unloading (.2 CEU/2 Hours)
    Description: This course discusses the responsibilities of those involved in the transportation of students with special
    needs. It also addresses the use of wheelchair lifts and appropriate procedures for loading and securing nonambulatory
    students on a bus.
    Objectives: RECALL bus operator, attendant, parent/caregiver, and teacher responsibilities when loading and
    unloading students with special needs. RECALL wheelchair lift components, safety features, and use guidelines.
    RECALL proper procedures for loading and unloading ambulatory and nonambulatory students. RECALL proper
    procedures for securing a wheelchair and student inside a bus.

Transporting Students with Special Needs: Recognizing and Relating to Students  (.1 CEU/1 Hour)
    Description: This course discusses the characteristics of mental, physical, and emotional/behavioral disabilities. It
    recalls guidelines that facilitate safe transportation of students with disabilities and identifies commonly used specialized
    equipment. Proper use, storage, and maintenance of specialized equipment is also discussed.
    Objectives: IDENTIFY characteristics of mental, physical, and emotional/behavioral disabilities. RECALL interaction
    guidelines that facilitate safe transportation of students with disabilities. IDENTIFY specialized equipment commonly
    used by students with special needs. RECALL proper use, storage, and maintenance of specialized equipment.

Transporting Students with Special Needs: The Basics (.2 CEU/2 Hours)
    Description: This course discusses the impact of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the
    Individualized Education Program (IEP) on transportation systems. It identifies members of an effective transportation
    team for students with special needs and the information that should be communicated among team members.
    Guidelines and general responsibilities pertaining to bus operators and attendants while transporting students with
    special needs are also discussed.
    Objectives: RECALL the impact of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Individualized
    Education Program (IEP) on transportation systems. IDENTIFY members of an effective transportation team for students
    with special needs. RECALL information that should be communicated among transportation team members. RECALL
