Module 2 – Work Sampling System (WSS), Guidelines, and Checklists – 4.0 Hours
Outcomes
•        Familiarity with the Work Sampling System (WSS) Guidelines and Checklists
•        Increased understanding of the purpose and benefits of observing and documenting children’s learning
•        Strategies for observing and documenting children’s learning
•        Increased reflection on and knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice (DAP)

Module 3 – Challenges of Observation and Documentation – 4.0 Hours
Outcomes
•        Strategies for overcoming the challenges of observation and documentation
•        Identify the correlation between the MMSR Framework and Standards and a recommended state
curriculum
•        Identify components of developmentally appropriate lesson plan
•        Create a model of a developmentally appropriate lesson plan

Module 4 – Curriculum, Work Sampling System, Exemplars – 4.0 Hours
Outcomes
•        Identify the relationship between a state recommended curriculum and the Work Sampling System
•        Analyze ways to connect assessment and planning
•        Compare curriculum assessment tools, WSS and the Exemplars
•        Identify ways in which MMSR supports communication and building relationships with families

Module 5 – Challenges and Strategies for Building Relationships with Families – 4.0 Hours
Outcomes
•        Identify the challenges and strategies for building relationships with families
•        Examine motivation and support for staff
•        Examine expectations and accountability
•        Identify the relationship between staff motivation, accountability and teacher development

Pike, Jefferson, MD 21755 (8 miles west of Frederick on Route 340) from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM; and The
Learning Center, 535 Summit Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

FEE = $40 per person per module
